Entrance Requirements
While maintained primarily for the families of our church, we welcome new students without a church home as well as those of other denominations whose parents are in agreement with our philosophy of education, objectives and policies.
All new students submit an application form and registration fee of $30. Evidence of satisfactory scholastic, health standing and immunization records is required. Placement tests will be given if needed to assess academic levels.
Parents of non-member students in Grades K-8 are required to attend informal information classes about the basic teachings of the Lutheran church. We want all parents to have a clear understanding of what is being taught in the school’s religion program. Our pastor or principal will teach this class.
Children enrolling in our Preschool program must be at least three (3) years of age on or before September 1 and potty-trained. Any child enrolling in Kindergarten must be five (5) years of age by September 1. Any child entering grades 1-8 must have successfully completed the previous grade.
New students are on probation for the first 9 weeks of school while we evaluate their needs, attitudes and placement to determine if changes may need to be made. BLES is not a correctional institution and is not staffed or equipped to accept problem children at the expense of the education of those who are able and willing.
